National Defence University Delegation visited UNESCO Headquarters

Pic-April25-2014A delegation of National Defence University, which is currently on a training visit to Paris, has visited the Head Quarters of UNESCO. According to details, Assistant Director General Mr. Eric Falt briefed the delegation about the Mission, operations, structure, history of achievements, scope and UNESCO operation in Pakistan. He specifically highlighted joint operations in the fields of Education, Culture, Science, preservation of heritage and UNESCO relief activities during emergencies like earth quake and floods. He also shared with the delegation UNESCO goals in future. Joint operations in the field of freedom of expression, safety and security of journalists and capacity building of media men also came under discussion.

Miss Anne-Belinda Preis, senior training officer apprised delegation about programing, budgeting and strategic planning of the organization. Girls’ education and development in the utilization of Malala fund were also discussed.

The delegation also met with the Ambassador of Pakistan to France Mr. Ghalib Iqbal. The Ambassador, while exchanging views, has said that GSP+ status granted to Pakistan is wonderful opportunity and that Pakistani exporters should take full advantage out of it. He was of the view that the GSP+ status to Pakistan has a potential of US$ 26 billion exports to European Union. The Ambassador also briefed the visiting delegation about Pak France relations and prospects of further improvement in them.
