More than 500 villages inundated in flood water in Sindh

Radio Pakistan in its latest report informed that in Sindh‚ another five hundred villages of Kacha areas in Khairpur and ninety one villages in Dadu districts have been inundated while six other villages completely submerged under flood water over flowing from River Indus. The report said standing crops on thousands of acres have also been submerged.

Flood-Sindh-2013jpgA spokesman of Irrigation department disclosed that the worst hit crops include cotton‚ sugar cane‚ dates and banana.

He said that the affected people of the marooned villages are being shifted to safer places. District administration has also established relief camp where they are being provided items of daily use including cooked and dry food.

The flash flood water is mounting pressure on protective bunds at Piryalo zero point bund‚ Jamsher‚ Alra Jagir‚Fareedabad and Aaqil Agani Loop bund .

Meanwhile‚ Chairman National Disaster Management Authority‚ Major General Saeed Aleem visited District Chitral to review the flood situation and asses future needs.

DCO Chitral‚ Muhammad Shoaib Ullah Jadoon gave detailed presentation on estimated damages‚ losses to public and private properties‚ communication and infrastructure caused by flash floods.

Chairman NDMA assured all possible support of NDMA and federal government to them.
