Arfa Karim Radhawa: A story, Myth or Legend?

We all heard the name Arfa Karim Radhawa on Television, Social Media or may be at the ‘Arfra Karim Randhawa’ I.T Tower at Lahore. We all remember how she became youngest Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) in the world and we all were grieved to hear the news of her unfortunate death. But that is all we know.

arfa-karimRecently, while using Facebook I came across a video which was based on the life of Arfa Karim Randhawa. Her life, though short it was, was truly an inspiration. She was not just some one who was interested in computers and technology and wanted to learn knowledge about it but she had an equal appetite of knowledge for arts, literature and music. She was amazing at drawing and her artworks are truly amazing. She wrote many poems and nearly all of them are available on internet. She had great understanding of music and sang very well. Even teachers of music were astonished to know that she didn’t receive education in music but still she sang in such a learned way. Apart from all these, being youngest MCP in the world was one big achievement itself.

There were so many things to praise about her. Despite that she was a down to earth person. She wasn’t rude towards people and didn’t show off even at an immature age. In person, she was a humble person and didn’t argue about her dressing or food with her parents like other children of her age. Allah has blessed her with so much qualities that it is not possible to think that she lacked in any type of quality. Indeed she was a blessing not only for her family but for the whole nation.

Arfa Karim had a very high level of intellect. She read Iqbal (R.A) and had great understanding of Iqbaliat. Her intellect is seen in her poems. Here is one stanza from her Poem ‘Fallen Tear’.

Overlooking the shore of time lies a man sent,
On a mere journey to find the heart in nothing,
With his strength and questioning mind spent,
Stopping once to take in hand a bird’s injured wing.

Here is an interesting quote by Arfa Karim Radhawa.

“If you want to do something big in your life, you must remember that shyness is only the mind. If you think shy, you act shy. If you think confident you act confident.” – Arfa Karim Randhawa.

She left this world so early that I still can’t understand was she a story, myth or legend? Perhaps a legacy.
