PIO student Shama Sarwar tops UHS examination

Miss Shama Sarwar, a student of the Pakistan Institute of Ophthalmology (PIO) Rawalpindi, has secured first position in the First Professional Examination of BSc (Hons) Optometry and Orthoptics.

shama_sarwar_pio_al-shifaAccording to a press release issued by the Al-Shifa Trust, Shama Sarwar, a brilliant student, bagged over 91 percent marks in the examination conducted by the University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore.

The release said the PIO students showed 90 percent result, which is a great achievement. The president and executive committee of Al-Shifa Trust congratulated Dean Professor Dr Wajid Ali Khan and his team for the achievement.

The release quoted Shama Sarwar as saying that she would try to enhance skills through advanced medical courses to serve the ailing humanity.

Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital, apex institution of eye care in Pakistan, is a World Health Organization (WHO) collaborating center for the prevention and control of blindness.

The PIO is the teaching wing of Al-Shifa and pioneer institute in the field of optometry and orthoptics running postgraduate courses for doctors and allied eye care professionals for last 18 years.
